چکیده

INTRODUCTION Emissions from power station stacks and many other anthropogenic sources have substantial vertical velocities and are often hot compared with the surrounding ambient air. These momentum and buoyancy effects cause the emitted plume to rise, increasing the effective source height and, in the main, reducing maximum ground level concentrations. It follows that an accurate prediction of plume rise within atmospheric dispersion models is important, particularly at distances near to source and at times when the boundary layer is shallow enough to enable the effluent to penetrate the boundary layer top into the stable layer aloft.

Comparative study of Gaussian dispersion formulae within the Polyphemus platform: evaluation with Prairie Grass and Kincaid experiments

This paper details a number of existing formulations used in Gaussian models in a clear and usable way, and provides a comparison within a single framework—the Gaussian plume and puff models of the air quality modeling system Polyphemus. The emphasis is made on the comparison between (1) the parameterizations to compute the standard deviations and (2) the plume rise schemes. The Gaussian formul...

An efficient certificateless signcryption scheme in the standard model

Certificateless public key cryptography (CL-PKC) is a useful method in order to solve the problems of traditional public key infrastructure (i.e., large amount of computation, storage and communication costs for managing certificates) and ID-based public key cryptography (i.e., key escrow problem), simultaneously. A signcryption scheme is an important primitive in cryptographic protocols which ...

Computationally secure multiple secret sharing: models, schemes, and formal security analysis

A multi-secret sharing scheme (MSS) allows a dealer to share multiple secrets among a set of participants. in such a way a multi-secret sharing scheme (MSS) allows a dealer to share multiple secrets among a set of participants, such that any authorized subset of participants can reconstruct the secrets. Up to now, existing MSSs either require too long shares for participants to be perfect secur...

Resolving intercontinental pollution plumes in global models of atmospheric transport

[1] Synoptic-scale pollution plumes in the free troposphere can preserve their identity as well-defined structures for a week or more while traveling around the globe. Eulerian chemical transport models (CTMs) have difficulty reproducing these layered structures due to numerical plume dissipation. We show that this dissipation is much faster than would be expected from the order of the advectio...

Development and evaluation of the PRIME plume rise and building downwash model.

A new Gaussian dispersion model, the Plume Rise Model Enhancements (PRIME), has been developed for plume rise and building downwash. PRIME considers the position of the stack relative to the building, streamline deflection near the building, and vertical wind speed shear and velocity deficit effects on plume rise. Within the wake created by a sharp-edged, rectangular building, PRIME explicitly ...
